Shed members love going to events with our stall to talk about the scheme, promote our activities and explain more about what really happens.

Radio Sunlight

Medway men in sheds supports Radio Sunlight as many of the presenters fall within the same categories required to become a shed member. Like may community centres, people come to enjoy, support and influence a range of activities during the week.

Professional and authenticated training and guidance

• Some of the training is in-house and required for safety and general site operation.

• Sunlight continues to provide training from external specialists which may help career development. • Peer-led practical guidance happens at every session

• We support group members to share their skills with the wider community

• External health and wellbeing service providers frequently share knowledge and signpost

• Group members are encouraged to attend free training offered by A Better Medway A Better Medway Champions | A Better Medway Champions | Medway Council.

Group outings, presentations and collaboration

We attend conferences and make presentations. Every month we have been visiting more community groups and charitable organisations in Medway to support each other. We are collaborating with ‘friends of’ groups and helping other charitable organisations. Independent visits are frequency organised outside session hours by group members.

Socials and events

Sunlight organises socials for shed members, community groups, volunteers and community members.

Pop-up workshops.

We run community sessions and workshops in Medway. Recently we have delivered several community music sessions, electronics workshops and wish-tree workshops.

Virtual meetings, email, mobiles and social media

During the covid lockdown the shed service continued, with small group sessions, virtual meetings and home visits. Around that time we supported more members to communicate using their mobile phones and computers with training if required. This enabled closer connections between members and we are still developing closer communication links as it makes a big difference.
